Bryan Murtaugh, MD, is the Director of Sports Medicine at MedStar National Rehabilitation Network and Program Director of the MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital/Georgetown University Hospital Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. He also serves as an Assistant Professor for Georgetown University School of Medicine in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. Dr. Murtaugh is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) and Sports Medicine, and he is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, and the Spine Intervention Society.
Dr. Murtaugh specializes in Sports Medicine, Musculoskeletal Ultrasound, Spine Medicine, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Concussions, Ultrasound & Fluoroscopic Guided Interventional Spine, Joint, and Nerve procedures, Tendon Debridement, and Orthobiologic procedures, including Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).
Dr. Murtaugh has substantial involvement with local professional sports teams and serves as Lead Team Physician for the Washington Wizards. In addition, he has also been a Team Physician for the Washington Mystics. Dr. Murtaugh also serves as Team Physician for the Catholic University of America and Trinity University Athletic programs.
Dr. Murtaugh received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his internship at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. He completed his residency in PM&R at the Northwestern McGaw Medical Center and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Dr. Murtaugh also completed fellowship training in Sports and Spine Medicine at the Northwestern McGaw Medical Center and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, where he provided medical coverage for Northwestern University athletic teams.
