Laura J. Hobart-Porter, DO, FAAPMR, AAP, is the Section Chief for Pediatric Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Medical Director of the Spinal Cord Disorders, and Associate Professor with dual appointments in the departments of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pediatrics.
Dr. Hobart-Porter is a pediatric academic physiatrist with clinically and academic interest in multi-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary care of children with acquired or congenital disabilities. She has published and presented on spina bifida, sexual function in persons with disability and sleep disorders to national and international audiences. She is dedicated to the care of children with spinal cord disorders through her directorship of the Spinal Cord Disorders Program. Under her leadership, the program has expanded from 4 specialties (PMR, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Urology) to include 8 specialties (Plastic surgery, Nephrology, GYN, and Neurology in addition), and the program gained recognition of Spina Bifida Association Clinical Care Partner. She considers teamwork and trans-disciplinary care to be the most rewarding aspect of her work.
