Jonathan Mittelman MD MPH joined Prudential in 2012, bringing his expertise in Occupational and Environmental Medicine to Group Disability Services. He graduated with a B.S. from Antioch College, did graduate work in Physiology at Wright State University and Electrical Engineering at the University of New Mexico. He received his M.D. degree from the Chicago Medical School in 1978 and received his Masters of Public Health from Emory University in 1997. He trained as an intern and resident in General Surgery at the University of New Mexico from 1978-1981.
Dr. Mittelman practiced Occupational Medicine from 1987 in Georgia, Connecticut and Maine until 2012, providing treatment of Worker’s Compensation cases to a variety of private industries and local governments, as well as helping those entities stay compliant with a variety of government regulations.
He is currently providing subject matter expertise to the business and clinician staff at Prudential and provides additional expertise in areas of employment affected by government regulation, such as the FAA, DOT and USCG as well as the first responder community. Dr. Mittelman is currently studying Machine Learning and has onboarded a Vendor working with page reduction and indexing using Artificial Intelligence.
He provides volunteer services as Judge Advisor for FIRST, an international program promoting STEM education, as well as serving as a member of the Woodside Emergency Preparedness Committee, following his many years as a volunteer firefighter. He received a President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2017, 2018 and 2019 for these activities.
