Nathan Olafsen, MD is an Assistant Professor in the PM&R Division within the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. He is the Associate Residency Program Director and Director of the Sports, Musculoskeletal, and Pain Medicine Education for the PM&R Residency Program. He is also the Co-director of Medical Student Education within the Department of Orthopedics. He is a team physician for Washington University and St. Louis City SC and City 2.
Dr. Olafsen specializes in the evaluation and nonoperative management of all musculoskeletal injuries, with special interests in tendon and joint disorders, sports-related injuries in runners and other endurance athletes as well as adaptive, overhead, and younger athletes. Dr. Olafsen also has a strong interest diagnostic ultrasound, complex nerve injury electrodiagnostics, and involvement in the medical education for fellows, residents, and medical students.
