Resident Physician
University of North Carolina Hospitals PM&R Program
My name is Raveen Sugantharaj, DO, current PGY-3 in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of North Carolina. My career interests include: Interventional Spine and Non-operative Sports Medicine. I was born and raised in New York City, attended McGill University in Montreal, Canada for a BSc in Nutritional Sciences with a minor in Kinesiology. I began my medical career at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Indianapolis with a primary interest of pursuing a career in PM&R. As a collegiate and (hopeful) lifelong athlete, my initial interests in MSK and Sports Medicine were based in my early year experiences. Through my early career in medicine, I've come to truly appreciate the complexity of our physiology and especially the intersection of our neuroaxial and musculoskeletal systems. From the promising development of diagnostic and therapeutic technologies like ultrasonography to fluoroscopy, to the evolution and development of treatment modalities from conventional, to orthobiologic, to neuro-rehabilitation; I've been captivated by the extent and possibilities that exist within the scope of our field. Looking forward to making meaningful contributions towards Rehabilitation medicine, towards patient care and advocacy for the healthcare system.
