Lynn H. Gerber, MD, is University Professor, George Mason University. She joined the faculty in 2006 after retiring as chief, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Clinical Center, NIH. She is Director for Research, Department of Medicine, Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, and is Section Chief of Rheumatology. She is Medical Director of the Outcome Program at the Beatty Center for the study of Chronic Liver Disease at Inova Health System.
Dr Gerber graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine, completed her internal medicine training at the New England Medical Center, her fellowship in rheumatology at the NIH and PM&R residency at George Washington University and is a diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in rheumatology.
Dr. Gerber is a reviewer for several journals in her field and a widely published author with 165 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 50 chapters in major textbooks. She has also served as editor or section editor for texts in arthritis, rheumatology, clinical research and rehabilitation medicine.
She has written extensively in rehabilitative rheumatology and cancer rehabilitation. She has authored 60 textbook chapters and 175 peer reviewed manuscripts, many in cancer and rheumatological rehabilitation. Dr. Gerber has been a grant recipient of: PNC Foundation, NIH, NSF, Henry Jackson Foundation and sub-contractor to American Institutes for Research in support of the Model Systems Program. She was elected to membership to the National Academy of Medicine in 2009(formerly the Institute of Medicine). She currently serves on advisory boards of the Foundation of PMR, Kessler Institute.
