Aarthi Murugappan, MD, Assistant Professor within the Orthopedics and Spine Department at Emory Healthcare. She is a physiatrist specializing in non-operative spine management with the goal of improving the quality of life and function of her patients. She focuses on a thorough, conservative, non-surgical approach to spine and joint pain. She works closely with interventional spine physicians and spine surgeons to coordinate care for her patients. In clinic, she is able to perform a variety of injections including shoulder and knee injections for joint pain, trigger point injections for myofascial pain, and bursa injections.
Originally from Augusta, GA, Dr. Murugappan received her undergraduate degree from Georgia Tech and medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. She completed her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at Emory University where she served as chief resident. During residency, she contributed to research and publications in the areas of wound care and hyperbaric oxygen treatment as well as cancer rehabilitation.
