Areej Nasr Ennasr is a dedicated third-year medical student at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. She holds a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she grew her research skills and passion for healthcare innovation. Afterward, Areej worked at the McGuire Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, where she conducted research on functional electrical stimulation and resistance training within the spinal cord injury community. With a clear focus on a future in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, she continues to expand her knowledge beyond the clinic by conducting research at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute. Areejās current project investigates noninvasive therapies by examining low-intensity focused ultrasound parameters and longevity of effects for human neuromodulation, for which she was awarded the Focused Ultrasound Foundation Young Investigator Award.
