Antonio Mondríguez-González is a third-year Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Resident Physician at Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in Chicago, IL. He was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and obtained a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL, before returning to Puerto Rico for his Medical Degree at Universidad Central del Caribe SOM. There, he served as class president during the COVID-19 pandemic and was part of the efforts to develop one of the first COVID-19 vaccine clinics in the metropolitan area. Antonio’s passion lies in addressing disparities in our healthcare system, and has collaborated in research with experts in the field in addition to presenting at national conferences on these topics. He also holds great regard for academic medicine and is currently part of the Northwestern PM&R Mentorship program for medical students interested in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. His goals for the future are to subspecialize in Pain Medicine and take up leadership positions in academic medicine so as to be a proponent of change toward a fairer and more just healthcare system.
