Session Description: A gradual decline in memory, thinking, behavior and social skills are common with advanced age. These changes affect a person's ability to function especially in the community dwelling older adults. Alzheimer's disease (A D) is the most common cause of dementia.
About 6.5 million people in the United States age 65 and older live with Alzheimer's disease. Among them, more than 70% are 75 years old and older. Worldwide about fifty-five million people live with dementia and 60% to 70% are estimated to have Alzheimer's disease.
It is important to diagnose patients with cognitive impairment with AD as Over time, it progresses to serious memory problems and loss of ability to perform everyday tasks in addition to complications such as infections, falls and death.
Decline in functional mobility leads to falls and fractures most importantly hip fractures and their impact on function and quality of life of community dwelling older adults.
We propose to discuss early detection of AD and its importance, mobility factors, falls and hip fractures providing practical tips to prevent and manage them.
Overall

Objectives:
1. At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will understand the diagnostic concept of early symptomatic Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and identify AD patients at early, pre-symptomatic disease stages and why that will be of increasing importance to rehab patients.
2. At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to assess mobility factors causing falls with a focus on hip fractures in community dwelling older adults.
3. The participants will be able to identify achievable interventions to improve functional performance to decrease falls and Fractures in community dwelling older adults.
