A data-driven approach and strategic research can advance understanding and evidence-based innovation in continuing certification in PM&R and its subspecialties. The American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR) has increased efforts to conduct and disseminate such research in recent years. This session will describe the development, design, and key findings of the addition of article-based questions to the longitudinal assessment for PM&R (LA-PM&R). Speakers will discuss the goals of adding article-based questions, including relevance to diplomates and staying current in knowledge. They will also discuss the process of selecting of articles and how It relates to assessment, along with data trends from the first year of assessment. Final consideration will address potential areas for future research and engaging the audience for ideas, input, and perspectives. Attendees should come away with an understanding of the article-based questions and how they benefit ABPMR diplomates.
