Lab Marketing

Description: : The objective of this courses to learn how to take history and exam and lumbar spine and then incorporate into clinical practice. Practical techniques for examination and incorporating into practice will be discussed and presented. Essentials of examination of lumbar spine and hip will be illustrated.

Various treatment options including injections will be discussed.

Why is this lab needed? : This is a comprehensive session for evaluation and treatment of low back pain and lumbar radiculopathy. Low back pain is very common and physiatrists must be at the forefront for nonsurgical management of lumbosacral pain.

Lab Outline/Format:: Initial session will consist of podium lectures covering anatomy, biomechanics, lumbar spine examination, an examination of the hip.

Following the initial odium presentations participants will be divided into groups.

Participants will be able to examine each of the 4 different physical examination tests at each station.

One of the stations would be for evaluation for hip pain.

ultrasound machines may be used to demonstrate the lumbar spine anatomy and the last half hour of the workshop. This is not the main part of the workshop. This is only for demonstration. They may be 2 stations.

Learning Objectives:

  • Analyze different sources of low back pain
  • Employ the lumbar spine examination techniques in the practice
  • Differentiate between pain originating from lumbar spine and hip
  • Will be able to obtain history correlating with the symptoms and conduct physical examination in their practice
