David M Popoli, MD, FAAPMR is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Orthopedics/Rehablitation and Pediatrics at Wake Forest Baptist Health. David's clinical time is split between Sports Medicine and Performing Arts Medicine, and he is a head team physician for several local high schools and a consulting physician for UNC School of the Arts. He also serves at the Chair of the Medical Committee for the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science and has been working to increase physician membership and engagement with this organization.
His research interests include investigation of biomechancial risk factors for injury in dancers as well as systems-level improvement of concussion care using a Clinical Decision Support System. Beyond clinical work, he is very active with the Wake Forest School of Medicine in his roles as Course Director for the Resilience Certificate Program, Course Director for Introduction to Clinical Reasoning and Integrative Thinking, and Core Faculty for Clinical Skills.
