Professor and Director of Clinical Research
The University of Kansas
I serve as the George Varghese Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine a the University of Kansas, where I am the Medical Director of Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation and Director of Clinical Research. My clinical practice involves the use of ultrasound and other imaging modalities to serve patients with musculoskeletal problems. I also conduct clinical trials relating to musculoskeletal problems.
There are three arms to my clinical research program. One uses diagnostic imaging to identify factors which predict who will develop painful knee osteoarthritis in the future so that preventive interventions can be designed. Another involves use of rehabilitation programs to improve mobility in people with knee osteoarthritis. The third is aimed at reducing risk for musculoskeletal problems that occur following pregnancy. The long-term goals of my research program are to reduce risk for disablement due to knee osteoarthritis and other lower limb musculoskeletal problems.
Specialties Include: Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Musculoskeletal Ultrasound, Design and Conduct of Clinical Research
