Aleksej Zuzek, PhD

Senior Scientific Director of Therapeutic Neurotoxins

Dr. Zuzek is an employee of AbbVie and is the Senior Scientific Director for Therapeutic Neurotoxins in US-Medical Affairs. As Sr. Scientific Director, he is honored to Lead a team of extraordinary research and medical scientists that are determined to close critical evidence and educational gaps to improve the quality of care that patients receive when botulinum toxin therapy is the chosen treatment in spasticity, movement disorders or urologic indications.

As a Doctoral and Post-doctoral researcher, he studied vesicle trafficking to improve neurological outcomes post traumatic injury (e.g. peripheral nerve crush, or traumatic brain injury). His research background provided detailed knowledge of the effects of botulinum toxins on neurons and other tissues, as he used botulinum toxins to elucidate the involvement of SNAREs in vesicle trafficking pathways.
