Medical Student
Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine- Harlem
My name is Siam Ayon, MS, OMS-IV, and I am in my last year of medical school at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, Harlem. I have been fascinated by the field of PM&R for a long time as it combines the two subjects I am the most intellectually curious about: Neurology and the MSK system. Most importantly, it allows me to work directly with patients going through difficult times. It also allows me to build a long-term relationship with my patients and go through many ups and downs in rehabilitation. PM&R is an ever-evolving field with discoveries and research coming to light frequently. Whether it be blocking the stellate ganglion to treat PTSD or precise nerve blocks to relieve chronic pain, the field has incredible promise to alleviate suffering worldwide.
I look forward to learning as much as possible in my journey to becoming a physiatrist and contributing to this field as much as possible. I also look forward to finding ways with my peers to allow people from all different walks of life to access the care of a physiatrist.
