Dr. Samuel Dona, Jr., M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology with a secondary appointment in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Dona is an ACGME fellowship-trained Sports Medicine provider and specialty-trained Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation doctor. Dr. Dona specializes in the nonsurgical treatment of sports-related injuries and pain-related musculoskeletal conditions.
Dr. Dona completed his undergraduate studies in Kinesiology at the University of Maryland in College Park before earning his medical degree at the University of the East College of Medicine in Manila, Philippines. Dr. Dona went on to complete an Internal Medicine internship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, where he then finished his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He later pursued additional specialty training through a Sports Medicine fellowship at Atlantic Sports Health in Morristown, New Jersey, in affiliation with Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. He has provided medical care for Seton Hall University, New Jersey City University as well as numerous high school athletic teams. He has served as a medical consultant with the New York Jets (NFL) and the New York Red Bulls Academy (MLS). Most recently, he served as an Associate Team Physician for NJ/NY Gotham FC (NWSL). Dr. Dona has also provided medical tent coverage at the Chicago and New York City marathons.
