Niña Carmela R. Tamayo, DO MS MPH is a board certified physiatrist and current CEO of Prime Directives PM&R, LLC and Chief Clinical Officer of Prev.ai.
Dr. Tamayo received her undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago in 2006. She went on to receive her Masters degrees from Columbia University in Nutrition and Health Policy and Administration from 2007-2009, then continued on to earn her Doctor of Osteopathy from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine (now Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine) in 2013. She completed her residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Mercy Medical Center in Long Island, New York, where she served as Academic and Administrative Chief Resident from 2015-2017, then finished her training in Spinal Cord Injury at Case Western Reserve University MetroHealth Hospital in 2018.
Dr. Tamayo has worked in various PM&R settings and specializes in neurorehabilitation but also has extensive experience treating spasticity, pain, musculoskeletal and rheumatological disorders/injuries and practices osteopathic manipulative medicine. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Tamayo holds particular interests in travel and disability, accessibility and universal design, community integration, healthcare technology and artificial intelligence. She sits on the ASIA Rehab Standards Committee, is the current chair for the International Rehab and Global Health Community for AAPM&R, and is the president of the nonprofit organization Philippine American Physiatrist Association. She has also recently founded a rehabilitation focused “think tank” called The Rehab Collaborative Network to provide consultation and support for entrepreneurial rehab professionals.
