Dr. Cristian graduated from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and completed residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he also served as Chief Resident. He completed a two-year research enrichment program at the University of Missouri and a master's degree in health care management from Harvard University. He has served as Chief of Rehabilitation Medicine and Pain Medicine at the James J. Peters Veterans Affairs Medical Center in NY, Service Chief, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Vice-Chairman and Residency Program Director at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, Chairman of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Northwell Glen Cove Hospital and currently as Chief, Cancer Rehabilitation Miami Cancer Institute.He had academic appointments at several medical schools in the New York City including Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Weill Cornell Medical College and Hofstra School of Medicine and is currently Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University. He has edited three textbooks in rehabilitation oncology including books on breast and gynecologic rehabilitation, lung cancer rehabilitation, central nervous system cancer rehabilitation, one book on medical management of adults with neurologic disabilities, one book on the education of PMR residents utilizing a person centered and core competency approach, one book on amputee care, one book on spinal cord injury and has contributed to seventeen chapters. He has lectured extensively at regional and national meetings including the AAPMR, ACRM and AAP and has been course director of the Miami Cancer Institute’s Rehabilitation Oncology Symposium for the past 3 years.His research interests and publications have been in brain injury and cancer rehabilitation and his area of clinical interest is in the treatment of the toxicities associated with cancer and cancer treatment.
