Dr. Matthew Cowling is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation with a primary focus on acute and subacute rehab,
orthotics and prosthetics, and the non-surgical management of musculoskeletal injuries. He currently serves as the Medical Director for the Rehabilitation Hospital of Fitchburg.

Dr. Cowling has a passion for teaching and expanding the role of physiatry in both acute and post-acute care. He completed his residency at the
University of Wisconsin and continues to proudly serve the greater Madison Area. He serves as the director of early career physician
development for Medrina as well as the chair of skilled nursing facilities for the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He
actively serves on the Academies Registry Steering Committee to help oversee the design, implementation and management of AAPM&R’s
registry and advance research in physiatry.

Aside from working as a Physician Dr. Cowling is a CrossFit Level 2 certified trainer who has a passion for health and wellness.
