Matthew D. Maxwell, MD (he/him/his)

Dr. Matthew Maxwell is a board certified physician in Sports Medicine and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R), practicing at Univeristy of Pittsburgh, where he holds joint positions at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the Veterans Affairs Pittsburgh Health System. His primary clinical and research interests pertain to innovative tools and methods to augment recovery and rehabilitation after injury, most notably the use of utlrasound to guide evalaution and treatment of musculoskeletal pathology.

Dr. Maxwell completed his residency training in PM&R at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2013, followed by Sports Medicine Fellowship training at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, PA in 2014. Since that time, he has taken on other leadership roles outside of his clinical practice, which include roles as head Team Physician for several high schools and universities, as well as national leaderhip roles in advocacy and policy within the North American Spine Socieity.
