Dr Kirschner is originally from New York City and studied Nutrition and Human Biology at Cornell University where he graduated with Honors. He went to medical school and completed an internship at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. He completed residency training at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School (now Rutgers) and the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, where he was named Academic Chief Resident and received the James Mclean Resident As Teacher Award. He then went on to complete his fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Interventional Pain Management at Orthopedic and Spine Specialists in York, PA. While a fellow he received the Earl C. Elkins award for achieving the highest score in the nation on the PMR board examination.
Dr. Kirschner is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine, Electrodiagnostic medicine and is a registered musculoskeletal sonographer. He is currently an Associate Attending Physiatrist at the Hospital for Special Surgery and holds a faculty appointment as Associate Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine. He is the fellowship director for the ACGME Sports and NASS recognized ISMM fellowships at the Hospital for Special Surgery. He is member of the board of United States Bone and Joint Initiative and Team Physician for Saint Peter’s University. He treats patients with various musculoskeletal and spine conditions and actively teaches residents and fellows. His current research projects involve studying the use of PRP for tendinopathy and glenohumeral osteoarthritis.
