Dr. David Cancel, MD, JD is the Director of Pediatric Rehabilitation at the Mount Sinai Medical Center. He is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation and Human Performance at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Cancel is Board Certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine and Brain Injury Medicine.
His clinical interests focus on the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions in both children and young adults. These include spasticity management, brain injury/concussion and sports medicine. Dr. Cancel’s spasticity management incorporates the use of botulinum toxin, alcohol blocks and baclofen pumps. He has presented at national and international conferences on neuromuscular disorders, concussion treatment and ultrasound guided injections. His written works include book chapters on pediatric brain injury.
Dr. Cancel also serves as a ringside physician providing medical coverage for various combat sports in New York State and is a Physician Member of USA Boxing.
