Session Description: During this session, 3 peer-reviewed studies in stroke rehabilitation and recovery published in 2023 will be presented. The studies will be reviewed in a “Journal Club” format by experts in the field, one by a study co-authors. The format will include 12 minutes allotted for presentation of the study and 5 minutes for questions from the audience and other panel memebers. The session will conclude with a brief panel discussion among the presenters on current challenges in stroke rehabilitation and recovery research.

Why is this session needed? : With few evidence-based interventions in stroke rehabilitation and recovery, it is difficult for clinicians and researchers alike to stay abreast of the important developments in the area. This session will not only introduce both groups to a few recent key studies in the area but also provide the opportunity to interact with members of the research and publication teams, in some cases. >Was this session previously presented at the Annual Assembly?: While there very well may have been sessions at previous AAPMR Annual Assembly’s addressing topics to be covered in the studies reviewed, these studies will have been recently published containing new data not previously offered at national meetings. In addition, there will be a focus on methodology and analysis likely not emphasized in previous more clinically oriented courses.
