Background and/or Objectives: As a CARF accredited inpatient rehabilitation unit, we are required to document estimated length of stay for all proposed patients. We aim to look back at all patients admitted to our inpatient rehabilitation unit in the last 2 years to look for any discrepancies (ie consistent overestimation or underestimation) or consistencies with estimated vs acute length of stay with similar diagnoses. We also aim to identify any factors (ie age, sex, social determinants of health, race) that may have an effect on actual length of stay amongst groups with similar diagnoses and if they are statistically significant.

Design: Retrospective data review.

Setting: Acute care hospital, Acute inpatient rehabilitation unit

Participants: Patients admitted to acute inpatient rehabilitation in the years 2021 and 2022.

Interventions: not applicable.

Main Outcome Measures: Difference between documented estimated length of stay and actual length of stay (overestimate, accurate, underestimate). Comparison of these among patients with similar diagnoses. Comparison of factors including age, sex, race, and social determinants of health among similar diagnoses and groups that were over- or underestimated.

Results: Currently gathering data.

Conclusions: Plan to analyze data once all points have been collected to be able to make conclusions.
